Opening Retrofit alignment files manually

Trados Studio uses the Alignment view to open the result of the alignment that it performs when importing a reviewed target file. Use this view to correct any misalignments before importing the alignment results into the corresponding project file.

About this task

When you open an alignment result file in the Alignment view, Trados Studio displays the aligned source and target files on two side-by-side columns. You can open Retrofit files (*.sdlretrofit) in one of the following ways:
  • Automatically - Run the Update from Reviewed Target File (Retrofit) batch task with the Review retrofit result in the Alignment view before updating option selected. Trados Studio automatically creates *.sdlretrofit files in the Retrofit folder of the project's folder tree and opens the alignment result file for review in the Alignment view. To save the *.sdlretrofit file on your computer for later review, go to the Home tab and select Save.
  • Manually - If you have saved the alignment result file for later review, you can manually open the *.sdlretrofit file in the Alignment view as per the current procedure.

Procedure

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Go to File > Open Retrofit File.
    • Go to the Welcome view, and, on the Home tab, select Open Retrofit File.
  2. Browse to the location of your *.sdlretrofit file and double-click to open it.
