Placing tags using "Auto-Insert Tags"
Use Auto-Insert Tags to insert formatting and any other missing tag pairs from the source in just one click. The transferred tags are automatically placed at the right position in the translated target segment. This enables you to format and post-edit your translations faster, thus enhancing your productivity.
Before you begin
- use a file-based project translation memory (TM) with at least 1000 translation units. If your project includes multiple TMs, only the first upLIFT-enabled TM will be checked.
- use a TM that contains meaningful translation units, relevant to the new documents for translation.
- turn on Fragment Alignment in your TM settings from Project Settings > Language Pairs > [your language pair] > TM settings > Fragment Alignment and switch Fragment Alignment Status to ON. You will then be prompted to update your TM. Fragment Alignment is also triggered automatically when you upgrade your TM.
About this task
For segments with TM matches, Trados Studio can already transfer missing source tags as part of fuzzy match repairing. This automatically fixes grammar, punctuation and format differences in the target using upLIFT functionality.
However, segments without TM matches, and any missing parts of TM and automatic translation matches cannot benefit from fuzzy match repair. In such cases, where you need to manually add missing translations, you can automatically apply formatting and add any other missing source tags using Auto-Insert Tags.
To add missing source formatting and any other tag pairs:
Procedure
Tags inside locked content
Trados Studio cannot insert tags inside locked segments or inside locked sections of a segment. You can lock segments or parts of a segment to make sure Auto-Insert Tags does not change formatting or other tag pairs.
