Previewing the effect of settings on file types

When you make changes to file type settings or embedded content processor settings, you can check how Trados Studio displays a file, in the Editor view.

About this task

You can preview how your imported file will look by accessing global settings, active project settings, or the new project settings, when you customize a file type or an embedded content processor. Use the options in the bottom bar to preview the file.

Procedure

  1. To configure file type settings, go to:
    • Projects view > Home > Project Settings, for the active project.
    • File > Options, for all future projects.
  2. Go to the file type or embedded content processor settings page and make your changes.
  3. Next to the Preview file label, select Browse.
  4. Choose the file that you want to preview from your computer and select Open.
  5. Select Preview.
Each time you make a change, select Preview and see how your settings affect the file rendering.

Results

The Preview might have difficulties when displaying content in more than one language direction. It uses the language direction of the first segment.

Normally, when you select Cancel in the Options or the Project Settings windows, the changes you have made are lost. However, the changes you have made up to the point you select Preview are kept.
