Project overview
Projects consist of the files which need to be translated or reviewed, the resources used during the translation process and the settings which determine how the project content is handled.
- Project roles and activities
Large-scale projects are run by Project Managers, while small-scale projects can be run by either Project Managers or translators. Project completion requires the work of several individuals: translators, reviewers, project managers. - Project creation methods
Projects are created using the New Project wizard by using a template or a previous project. When you have specified project settings and selected the project files, the wizard automatically creates a project and adds it to Trados Studio where it is managed. Files are scanned during project creation to determine their usage and to designate the appropriate file type settings. - Project files
Any file that is part of a project is known as a project file. You add files to a project when you create the project. You can also add files to an existing project. - Project translation resources
You can select translation resources to a new project or to an existing project. Resources can be used to pre-translate content automatically and to assist translators during work with suggestions. - Project templates
Project templates reduce the amount of time and effort involved in creating new projects by reusing settings and selections used to create previous projects. Project templates have the file name extension*.sttpl. - Project tasks
A task is a process that is performed on an individual file or on a group of files (for example, an entire project), with the purpose of preparing the project, pre-translating the project, generating reports and so on. - Project packages
Packages are used to split existing work and send it to other team members. A package is a file structure which contains all the files that need to be sent to a project team member in order for them to start work on the project. It can also contain work that is already completed. - Customers
You can specify the customer for which you are translating the files in your project. Having customers associated to projects enables you to quickly filter the work for that particular customer.
