Project translation workflow for a Regulated Industry

Creating a project enables you to manage multiple files and distribute them to other team members for translation.

Project workflow scenario

Assume you are a localization Project Manager. You receive an assignment to localize several Microsoft Word *.docx files that contain information about the use of certain medication types. Previous versions of these documents were translated last year. The MS Word *.docx files contain tracked changes to indicate what updates need to be made for the current project.

You have been provided with the translated *.sdlxliff files from the previous project and the TM.

Follow the workflow for project translation in a Regulated Industry to send the files for translation and review.

Why use this workflow?

This workflow is useful when the files are passed from translators onto reviewers, and back to translators before being finalized. The workflow also enables you to leverage translations from previous projects by:

  • Applying PerfectMatch which transfers translations from the previously translated bilingual files and applies them to the new project files. This automatically translates any segments that have not changed since the previous project. Because the PerfectMatch segment matching process includes a check for context and segmentation, PerfectMatch units typically need no further translation or editing during translation.
  • Pre-translating content that has changed since previous translations, via translation memories (TMs).

This workflow also indicates what settings you need to specify and the practices that you need to follow to ensure that changes to translations are tightly controlled.
