Running batch tasks: Update from Reviewed Target File - Retrofit

If an external reviewer performs changes to a file you previously exported using the Export Files batch task with the Target version option, you can import those changes back to your Trados Studio project. This process is called Retrofit. After the changes are imported, you can review the updates in the Editor view using tracked changes.

Before you begin

If your local *.sdlxliff files (the ones you currently have in Trados Studio) contain tracked changes, TQAs or comments, the Retrofit task cannot apply to them until the review process is complete in the local *.sdlxliff files.

About this task

Optionally, you can also check and correct the retrofit results in the Alignment view before opening them in the Editor view.

Procedure

  1. Decide whether you want to run the batch task sequence on an entire project or some project files:
    • To run batch task sequences on an entire project, go to the Projects view and select the project you want to run batch task sequences on.
    • To run batch task sequences on a file or a selection of files, go to the Projects view, select a project, and then go to the Files view and select the file or files you want to run batch task sequences on.
  2. On the Home tab, select Batch Tasks.
  3. Select Reviewed Target File Update (Retrofit).
  4. On the Batch Tasks page, consult the task/task sequence description. If you want to run another task, select it from the Task Sequence drop-down list.
  5. Select Next.
  6. On the Reviewed Target File Update (Retrofit) page, add the target file (which was reviewed externally) for each corresponding project file.
  7. On the Reviewed Target File Update (Retrofit) page, you can also specify the way the update process will proceed.
    1. Set the quality threshold for retrofit updates, by sliding the threshold bar along the Tolerant - Strict line.
    2. Select Create a backup of the project file before updating to back up the current state of your project in case the Retrofit task produces unsatisfactory results.
    3. Select Review retrofit results in the Alignment view before updating to have the Alignment view open for you to edit the review results.
  8. Select Finish.
