Saving alignment file
After Trados Studio aligns your files automatically, you can save the result of the alignment in *sdlalign format, for later review in the Alignment view or in *.sdlxliff format, for further review and QA checks in the Editor view.
About this task
To update the *.sdlalign file currently active in the Alignment view at regular intervals, select Save on the Home tab.
Procedure
- Open an alignment result file in the Alignment view by doing one of the following:
- When you choose the Align Single File Pair option, Trados Studio automatically opens the alignment result file for review in the Alignment view.
- When you choose the Align Multiple Files option,Trados Studio saves the alignment result file for each pair of documents if you keep the default Save alignment result files for later review option enabled on the first page of the Align Documents wizard. When the alignment is complete, Trados Studio prompts you to open the folder with alignment result files. Select and double-click on the
*.sdlalignresult files to open them individually in the Alignment view. - When you choose to open the
*.sdlalignmanually, do one of the following:- Go to File > Open Alignment, browse to the location of your
*.sdlalignfile and double-click to open it. - On Welcome view or the Translation Memories view, on the Home tab, select Align Documents > Open Alignment. Browse to the location of your
*.sdlalignfile and double-click to open it.

- To save the alignment result file as
*sdlalign:- For the Align Single File Pair option or an
*.sdlalignfile opened manually, go to the Home tab and, in the Tasks group, choose Save As from the drop-down menu. Browse to the location where you want to save the alignment result file and select Save. By default, Trados Studio names the alignment result file[name of the source file]_[name of the target file].sdlalign. - For the Align Multiple Files option, Trados Studio automatically saves the alignment result file created for each paired source and target file as
*.sdlalignfiles. This enables you to review them one by one in the Alignment view at a later time. Make sure the Save alignment result files for later review option is selected on the Select Translation Memory page. Only disable this option if you want to send the alignment results directly to the translation memory (TM) without prior review.

*sdlxliff:- On the Home tab, in the Tasks group, select Save and choose Save SDLXLIFF from the drop-down menu.
- Browse to the location where you want to save the alignment result file and click Save.
Note: You can then open the*.sdlxlifffile for further review in the Editor view before importing the translation units into the TM.Note the following*.sdlxliffconversion changes. When you save the alignment result file as*.sdlxliff, Trados Studio attaches the information about each alignment pair to the resulting segment pair. You can check this information in the Segment Status Column of the Editor view.Alignment view information Editor view information Details Confirmation Status Translation Status Alignments that you confirmed in the Alignment view show up as Signed Off in the Editor view.
Unconfirmed alignments show up as Draft segments.
Quality value Score The quality value of an alignment pair is transferred in the Editor view as the TM match score for the segment pair.
Connection Type System For example, alignment pairs created from 1:1 connections show up as Alignment11 segments in the Editor view.
