Selecting project file

The Select Project File dialog informs you that the file you are opening is already part of an existing project.

Trados Studio displays this dialog if ALL the conditions below are met:

  • You open a single file for translation (using the Translate Single Document command or by drag-and-dropping the file into the Editor Navigator or into the side-by-side Editor).
  • The file you are trying to open is not currently open in the Editor.
  • A [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff and a [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlproj file already exist for this document in the same location as the document you are trying to open.

Use the Select Project File dialog to tell Trados Studio how to handle the files which already have a project attached to it:

OptionDescription

Open existing project file

This option opens the existing [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff version of the file in the Editor. Trados Studio also retrieves and any current changes to the target language version of the file.

Create new project file

This option creates a new [ documentname ].[ documenttype ]_[ sourcelanguage ]_[ targetlanguage ].sdlxliff version of the file and opens it in the Editor. This discards any current changes to the old .sdlxliff and .sdlproj files and overwrites them with the new versions of the files.
