Specify Auto-substitution settings
You can specify auto-substitution settings for dates, numbers, variables, alphanumeric strings, times, measurements and acronyms.
Procedure
- Go to the settings page:
- For all future projects: File > Options > Language Pairs > [language pair] > Translation Memory and Automated Translation.
- For the current project: Project SettingsLanguage Pairs [language pair] > Translation Memory and Automated Translation.
- For a project template: File > Setup > Project Templates. Select a template, and then select Edit.
- Select Auto-substitution from navigation and select the checkbox next to each item you want to use in auto-substitution: dates, numbers, variables, alphanumeric strings, times, measurements and acronyms.
Note: If the recognition settings in your selected translation memory are not enabled to recognize these items, auto-substitution does not occur and these items are treated as normal, translatable words. See Translation Memory Settings.
- Specify how dates, times and measurements are auto-localized when they are substituted:
- Select Dates and Times from the navigation tree. Specify the formats to use when auto-substituting dates and times in target language segments.
- Select Measurements from the navigation tree. Select what spacing you want to use between the number and unit in a measurement when auto-substituting measurements in target language segments. The default and recommended setting is Use the same spacing between the number and the unit that is used in translation memory target segment.
- If you want a penalty to be applied during auto-substitution, select Penalties from navigation:
- If you want a penalty to be applied to auto-substituted dates, times, numbers and measurement, specify a value in the Auto-localization penalty box.
- If you want a penalty to be applied to auto-substituted variables, acronyms and alphanumeric strings, specify a value in the Text replacement penalty box.
- Select OK to close the Options, Project Settings or Project Template Settings dialogs.
