Specifying settings for the Tag Verifier

Ensure that the tags in the translated file match those in the source file by adjusting Tag Verifier settings.

About this task

Tag Verifier settings enable you to check whether your target file:

  • Contains more tags than the source file
  • Contains fewer tags than the source file
  • Contains the same order of tags as the source file
  • Contains ghost tags because you deleted parts of a tag accidentally
  • Contains the same spacing around tags as the source file
  • Contains mismatching tag IDs between the source and target segments

By default, for each enabled verification, an error notification is raised, if there are issues when you verify the target file. Change the Error drop-down menu if you want to change the severity of the notification to a note or a warning.

Procedure

  1. Choose where you want to specify the settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project, go to Project Settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project but only for a specific language pair, go to Project Settings > [source language] - [target language] language pair.
    • To specify verification settings for all future projects, go to File > Options.
    • To specify verification settings during batch tasks, go to the Projects view or the Files view, select Batch Tasks, choose a batch process and go to the Settings page.
    • To specify verification settings in a project template, create a project template by going to the Projects view selecting Create Project Template from the Ribbon, then specify verification settings in the Project Template Settings dialog. You can also edit an existing project template.
  2. In the navigation tree, select Tag Verifier > Common.
  3. In the Check for section, select all the items you want to be checked during verification.
  4. You can enable or disable various types of settings:
    • Check for Tag ID mismatch- This option is disabled by default. This option checks for tag ID differences that may affect TM matches.
    • Ignore formatting tags - This option is enabled by default. Formatting tags such as bold, italic or font type are not checked, if this option is enabled.
    • Ignore locked segments - This option prevents tag checks from being performed inside locked segments.
    • Ignore differences between normal and non-breaking speace - This option ensures that spaces and non-breaking spaces are treated identically when checking the space around tags.
  5. Select OK to save your settings and close the dialog.
