Specifying settings for the Terminology Verifier

These settings are used to determine what terminology checks are performed on your files. The terminology checks use a termbase.

Procedure

  1. Choose where you want to specify the settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project, go to Project Settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project but only for a specific language pair, go to Project Settings > [source language] - [target language] language pair.
    • To specify verification settings for all future projects, go to File > Options.
    • To specify verification settings during batch tasks, go to the Projects view or the Files view, select Batch Tasks, choose a batch process and go to the Settings page.
    • To specify verification settings in a project template, create a project template by going to the Projects view selecting Create Project Template from the Ribbon, then specify verification settings in the Project Template Settings dialog. You can also edit an existing project template.
  2. In the navigation tree, select Terminology Verifier > Verification Settings.
  3. On the Verification Settings page, specify your settings:
    1. Select Verification Settings from the navigation on the left and configure the termbase name.
    2. Under Verification Criteria, select the Check for possible non-usage of the target terms checkbox to mark non-used target items as Warning, Error or Note.
    3. Under Verification Criteria, select the Check for terms which may have been set as forbidden checkbox to mark the possible forbidden items as Warning, Error or Note.
    4. If you selected the Check for terms which may have been set as forbidden checkbox, choose a term value from the Term picklist fields. Depending on your choice, the associated items in the Select forbidden values list change. Select the checkboxes corresponding to the forbidden values of your choice.
    5. Select the Check for terms without the target term equivalent checkbox to mark missing target terms in the termbase as Warning, Error or Note.
    6. Specify values for: Minimum match value, Search depth and Term repetition threshold.
    7. Select or clear the remaining checkboxes depending on how you want terms checked: Exclude PerfectMatch units, Exclude exact matches, Exclude fuzzy matches down to, Ignore locked segments and Enable recognition of two-letter terms.
  4. On the Profiles page:
    • Import a Terminology Verifier profile (*.sdltvsettings) to overwrite all current settings.
    • Export the current Terminology Verifier settings as profile (*.sdltvsettings) for future use.
  5. Select OK to save your settings and close the dialog.

Verification settings for cloud projects

You can only import QA Checker profiles for local projects. Verification settings for cloud projects are read-only in Trados Studio and can only be edited from your cloud account in a browser.
