Splitting alignment segments

You can split alignment segments for both source segments and target segments but is by design limited to the following alignment connections: 2:1; 1:2; 0:1; 1:0.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Welcome or Translation Memories view, and on the Home tab, select Align Documents > Open Alignment.
  2. Identify the alignments you want to split. Splitting is restricted to the following alignment connections: 2:1; 1:2; 0:1; 1:0.
  3. Place your cursor in the source/target segment at the splitting point.
  4. Right-click and, from the context menu, select Split Segment.

Results

Notice the following automatic actions:
  • When splitting a 1:0/0:1 alignment connection, an extra 1:0/0:1 alignment is added for the inserted segment.
  • When splitting a 1:2/2:1 alignment connection, the alignment is deleted and 2 new 1:1 alignments are inserted. The segments will be marked as Confirmed with quality value set to '100'.
  • When the source or target have different row numbers, extra greyed empty rows are added at the end of the smaller column.
