Step 2 - Creating a project for a Regulated Industry

Create a project containing Microsoft Word *.docx files. Use PerfectMatch and pre-translation to leverage translations from your previous project.

About this task

Once the project is complete, you can send the files for translation. You can do this by creating a project package to send to the translator or, if you are working in an online workflow with Trados GroupShare, you can publish the project and the translator can check out the files for translation.

Procedure

  1. Go to File > New > New Project.
  2. In the New Project wizard, follow the on-screen instructions to specify basic project details, target languages and the files you want to translate.
  3. On the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page, your TM should be listed under All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation. If you have not selected a TM then select one now.
  4. On the PerfectMatch page, you can use your translations from your previously files to translate content in the new file that has not changed.
  5. Select the translated *.sdlxliff files from the previous project.
  6. Under Translation transfer options, select Apply PerfectMatch and lock.
    • Any translations in the new document that do not have tracked changes and have not changed since the previous translation have PerfectMatch applied. The existing translation is placed into the target segment and they are locked since no further editing is needed.
    • Segments with tracked changes or comments do not have PerfectMatch applied since there has been a change in the content.
  7. Select Finish to create the project.
PerfectMatch is applied to all segments that do not have tracked changes. Segments with tracked changes are pre-translated. During pre-translation, a lookup is made in the TM with tracked changes rejected. If an exact match (100%) is found, it applies the translation. If no exact match is found with the tracked changes rejected, it applies the translation from the lookup that was performed with tracked changes accepted.
