Verifying translations in the Online Editor

Checking translations for errors and inconsistencies in the Online Editor is similar to QA (Quality Assessment) checking in the Trados Studio's Editor view. Verification checks the target segment against the source segment and reports if there are missing tags or inconsistent items.

About this task

The verification can run automatically when confirming a translation or manually, during translation.

Example

Customize QA settings

To customize the settings for QA checking, go to the Project tab, select the project and click Settings > Configuration > QA Checker. You can also configure these in the project template to save time and reuse the settings for future cloud projects.

Running verification during translation

When you verify your translated segments, the system compares the source and the target to find missing or incorrect tags.

Procedure

  1. Open your cloud project file in the Online Editor. See Open cloud project files in a browser.
  2. Select the segment that you want to verify.
  3. Go to the Review tab and select Verify.
Check the results in the Verification panel on the right:
    • Error - For example, this message is displayed when a tag is missing.
    • Warning - For example, this message is displayed when the order of tags is changed.
    • Info - For example, this message is displayed when there are additional or missing spaces in tags.

Checking verification results

In the Verification panel there are two options. You can filter the verification results by Severity or by Message type.

Procedure

  1. Open your cloud project file in the Online Editor
  2. Expand the Advanced Search section.
  3. Select the Severity text box and the tags of the severities that were found in the document are displayed along with the number of instances that were found in the document. Choose the severity tags that you want to search for: Error, Warning, Note.
  4. Select the Message type text box and the tags of the error types that were found in the document are displayed along with the number of instances that were found in the document. Choose the verification messages you that you want to search for: QA messages or tag messages.
