Working with file assignments

When you are working with a Trados GroupShare project, you can assign files to Trados GroupShare users to complete translation tasks specific to the different phases of the translation process.

The users can download the assigned files from the Trados GroupShare server to which you published the project, complete the translation work in Trados Studio and upload the changes back to the server. As Project Manager, you can then move the files to the next appropriate translation phase and assign the files on to users who can complete the tasks specific to the new phase.

Trados GroupShare roles and permissions

Trados GroupShare roles and permissions allow you to control which actions the assigned users can perform on the files you give them access to. For example, you can assign files to reviewers in the Review phase and give them permission to perform only review-specific actions.

You specify these permissions when you create the Trados GroupShare role for the reviewers, and you can edit them at any time. To create new roles and assign files to the role members, you need Project Manager-specific permissions.

Trados GroupShare is built with the Project Manager role and other standard roles that correspond to the most common jobs that Trados GroupShare users can perform in Trados Studio. You can customize Trados GroupShare standard roles by adding or removing permissions, or you can create new roles to accommodate specific jobs that the users can perform in your projects.

Assignment management

You can create assignments for users that are members of a Trados GroupShare role from the Files view. To see an overview of all assignments for your project files, go to Home tab > Trados GroupShare layout and select File Assignment.

You can create assignments only for translatable and localizable files, and only in the project target language.
