Adobe FrameMaker 8-2022 MIF settings

The Adobe FrameMaker 8-2022 MIF file type has the *.mif extension and corresponds to Adobe FrameMaker 8.

Master pagesSelect the check box to include master pages as translatable content. Master pages hold the page layout. When enabled, this setting extracts the LeftMasterPage (in case of a double-sided document), then the RightMasterPage, then any custom pages the document uses, even if the master page is not referenced by any of the body pages. All extracted master page content has a corresponding context and structure information added ("Master Page") to the paragraphs.
File infoSelect the check box to include file information as translatable content.
Variables

This setting provides the option to display or hide the Variable Formats catalog.

From the list, select an option to decide which variable format details are included as translatable content: None (the content of the Variable Formats catalog are not included), Used Variables (only the variables referred in the document are included), All Variables (all the content of the Variable Formats catalog are included).
Reference pagesFrom the list, select an option to decide which reference pages are included as translatable content: None, Customized pages, All pages, Default and customized pages.
The filter now supports the sort order of index entries.

Display special characters as textThis option is selected by default. Select the check box to show special characters as text during translation.
Process special formattingSelect the check box to process special formatting during translation.
Convert forced line breaks to inline tagSelect the check box to convert forced line breaks to inline tags.
Exclude index markers from segment boundariesSelect the check box to exclude index markers from segment boundaries.

Font Mapping

Font mapping is implemented for several default languages with the following default values:

You can edit or delete the default values:

Edit default target fonts
  1. Expand the menu of any default language.
  2. Place your cursor in the TARGET FONT field and edit the font name.
Delete default font mappings
  1. Expand the menu of any default language.
  2. Place your cursor in the source font - target font row and, at the end of the row, select Delete sign.
Add default font mappings
  1. Expand the menu of any default language.
  2. Place your cursor in the source font - target font row and, at the end of the row, select Delete sign.
  3. Select menu for delete and add font mapping, select Add New Font Mapping and:
    1. In the Source font field, enter a font. If you want to match all source fonts against a target font, leave the Source font field empty, and select the Map all source fonts check box.
    2. In the Target font field, enter a font.
    3. Select Add.
  4. Repeat the previous step to add more font mapping rules.
You can add new languages and edit their font mapping:

  1. Select Add Language Font Mapping and:
    1. In the Language field, select a language.
    2. In the Source font field, enter a font. If you want to match all source fonts against a target font, leave the Source font field empty, and select the Map all source fonts check box.
    3. In the Target font field, enter a font.
    4. Select Add.
  2. You can edit, add or delete font mappings for the new language.
Edit target fonts
  1. Expand the language menu.
  2. Place your cursor in the TARGET FONT field and edit the font name.
Delete default font mappings
  1. Expand the language menu.
  2. Place your cursor in the source font - target font row and, at the end of the row, select Delete sign.
Add default font mappings
  1. Expand the language menu.
  2. Select menu for delete and add font mapping, select Add New Font Mapping and:
    1. In the Source font field, enter a font. If you want to match all source fonts against a target font, leave the Source font field empty, and select the Map all source fonts check box.
