Adobe FrameMaker 8-2022 MIF v2 settings

The Adobe FrameMaker 8-2022 MIF v2 file type has the *.mif extension and corresponds to Adobe FrameMaker 10.

Element attribute valuesThis option is selected by default. Keep the check box selected to include element attribute values as translatable content.
Hidden conditional textSelect the check box to include hidden conditional text as translatable content.
Master pagesSelect the check box to include master pages as translatable content. Master pages hold the page layout. When enabled, this setting extracts the LeftMasterPage (in case of a double-sided document), then the RightMasterPage, then any custom pages the document uses, even if the master page is not referenced by any of the body pages. All extracted master page content has a corresponding context and structure information added ("Master Page") to the paragraphs.
File infoSelect the check box to include file information as translatable content.
Text inset contentSelect the check box to include text inset content as translatable content.
Variables

This setting provides the option to display or hide the Variable Formats catalog.

From the list, select an option to decide which variable format details are included as translatable content: None (the content of the Variable Formats catalog are not included), Used Variables (only the variables referred in the document are included), All Variables (all the content of the Variable Formats catalog are included).
The filter now supports the sort order of index entries.

Remove discretionary hyphensThis option is selected by default. Keep the check box selected to remove discretionary hyphens.
Create segment for each index entry levelSelect the check box to create segments for each index entry level.
Apply Track Changes before openingThis option is selected by default. Keep the check box selected to apply Track Changes before opening the file, which means that:
  • Conditional tag pairs and their content (which contains a deleted track change condition) will always get deleted.
  • Conditional tag pairs and their content (which contains an add track change condition) will not have a tag pair created, but the content will be preserved.
  • If the conditional tag pair that contains add track change has other conditions, the information about the track change gets removed but the tag pair is preserved with information regarding the other conditions.
Advanced Settings
Display special characters as textThis option is selected by default. Select the check box to show special characters as text during translation.
Exclude index markers from segment boundariesSelect the check box to exclude index markers from segment boundaries.
Skip advanced formattingThis option is selected by default. Select the check box to skip advanced formatting, namely tracking and kerning.
Segment text at forced line breakThis option is selected by default. Select the check box to segment text at forced line break.
