Importing file type configurations

If the default file type configuration does not fully cater for your needs, import file type configurations from Trados Studio and use them during the creation of projects and project templates. Importing file type configurations is useful for the file types whose settings cannot be edited in Trados Team.

Before you begin

Make sure that the file type configuration you want to import has one of the following two extensions: *.xml or *.sdlftsettings. All XML v1-based file types will be deprecated in 2022, which means you will not be able to import such file types.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados Team (by accessing this link: http://languagecloud.sdl.com/lc).
  2. Go to the Resources view.
  3. Select the File Type Configurations tab, and then select the check box corresponding to the file type configuration where you want to import settings.
  4. Select Import, and then browse or drag-drop the *.xml or *.sdlftsettings file. You do not need to save (the Save button is disabled) or confirm the import.
After the import is finished, check the file type configuration you have just added in the list.

What to do next

You can use the file type configuration when creating project templates or projects.
