Online and offline localization flows

Trados Team enables users to translate and review content in either Trados Studio (online or offline) or Trados Online Editor (purely online).

Online localization flow

The online localization flow can be performed via Trados Studio or Trados Online Editor.

Trados Online Editor path
After you accept your localization task in Trados Team, you can open the task files for translation or review in Trados Online Editor. Choosing this option enables you to use all your cloud translation resources and to keep your content secure while enforcing full online collaboration. After you complete your work in Trados Online Editor, you submit it back to Trados Team. Opening files in Trados Online Editor offers users the best productivity and integration experience.
Trados Studio path
After you accept your localization task in Trados Team, you can open the task files for translation or review in Trados Studio. Choosing this option enables you to use all your cloud translation resources and the advanced Trados Studio features. After you complete your work in Trados Studio, you submit it back to Trados Team.

Offline localization flow

The offline localization flow can be performed via Trados Studio packages or via SDLXLIFF import/export operations.

Trados Studio packages
After you accept your localization task in Trados Team, you can download the task files as project packages which you can then import into Trados Studio for translation or review. Project packages do not include any links to cloud translation resources. After you complete your work in Trados Studio, you create a return package and upload it back to Trados Team.
SDLXLIFF import/export
You can create projects with SDLXLIFF files that have been pre-processed outside of Trados Team. Therefore, you can prepare a project locally in Trados Studio using traditional mechanisms, extract the prepared SDLXLIFF files from the project, and then import them in an online project. This can be useful in those scenarios where certain functionality might not yet be fully available in Trados Team, such as native support for PerfectMatch in online project creation.
