Translating via Trados Studio packages
Translate the content assigned to you in Trados Team by using offline Trados Studio packages. Access the Translate task assigned to you from the Inbox view.
About this task
- You can find the TM and termbase resources of the cloud project in the translation package, only if your administrator, lead project manager or project manager enabled the Generate Offline Package Resources automated task.
- You can create cloud packages for tasks which are of the same type, and which belong to the same project. Therefore, you can create a cloud package consisting of one or more Translate tasks.
- After you upload the cloud package to Trados Studio, you will have access to the cloud project files, the cloud project TMs (
*.sdltm), and the cloud project termbases (MultiTerm*.xmlfiles + the (*.xdtdefinition). - When you create the return package, the original cloud TMs and termbases are not sent back to the cloud environment, but remain available locally in Trados Studio.
Trados Studio does not support creating and working on projects which have the same source and target language. Local file download is restricted for these projects.
The offline and online way of working in Trados Studio is different when it comes to how cloud linguistic resources are displayed in the UI. Note that the way cloud linguistic resources are displayed in the Trados Studio UI does not impact the way lookups are retrieved.
The offline way of working entails that users download a package from the cloud environment and upload it in Trados Studio. The package includes a copy of the following cloud linguistic resources included in the cloud project: TMs and termbases. In Trados Studio, the cloud TMs can be viewed under Project Settings > Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation, while the cloud termbases can be viewed under Project Settings > Language Pairs > Termbases.
- Under Project Settings > Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation, consult the name of the translation engine which includes the cloud TM used in the project. The actual name of the TM can be consulted only if you log in to the cloud environment.
- Under Project Settings > Language Pairs > Termbases, select Cloud-based Terminology, select Settings and consult the names of the cloud termbases included in the project, under the Used column.
