Deleting multiple objects in Organize Space

Organize Space allows users to select multiple objects and delete them in one go.

Bulk operations are a great way to increase efficiency in managing file resources. Organize Space offers bulk operations, like deleting many objects, by selecting checkbox next to each object and choosing the operation button from a selection above the objects list - Trash Bin for delete. Doing operations on many objects at the same time may encounter some issues in which case there is a message informing that a number of originally selected objects could not be successfully deleted. Here are the most possible reasons for why that might happen:

  • you do not have permission to delete selected object - if you select objects to which you have permission to delete and add to your selection objects that you do not have permission to delete, you will still see "Delete" icon. Organize Space deletes objects you have permission to and returns a message about number of object that could not be deleted
  • the item is used in a released publication - resources that are part of already released publications cannot be deleted
  • the item is checked out - users who make changes to a document have to check it out so no one else is able to make changes to the object at the same time.
  • you are in a shortcut folder - it is not possible to delete an object from a shortcut folder; you can only delete shortcuts to objects, using the Delete shortcut button.
