How to share a baseline

When you create a new publication you can share the baseline of an existing publication to ensure that both publications consistently use the same versions of topics.

Procedure

  1. From Publication Manager, locate the publication in the repository for which you want to change its baseline.
In this scenario, let's assume that you want to share the baselines for Installation procedures for UNIX systems and Installation procedures for Windows systems. Locate one of these publications in the repository.
For this scenario, locate Installation procedures for UNIX systems.
  2. Right-click on the publication then select Properties.
  3. Select the Versions tab.
  4. Click the ellipsis button to the right of the Baseline field.
  5. In the Select Baseline window, locate and select the baseline you want to share with this publication.
In this scenario, you would chose the baseline for Installation procedures for Windows systems
The baseline value is the publication: <name>-<version number>-<GUID>-<timestamp>.
    For example:
Installation procedures for Windows systems-v1-GUID-89A68A1C-71E2-4EF5-8434-7266E2DB8C73-2012/05/08 17:10:10
The value populates the Selected value field.
  6. Click OK in the Select Baseline window.
  7. Click OK in the Properties window.
