If you use XMetaL on a high-DPI (dots per inch) display to view or edit your topics, XMetaL may scale buttons and text labels. But when you open a dialog that shows Tridion Docs items, the text labels of those items may be unreadable because they are not scaled. This troubleshooting topic explains how you can work around this issue by disabling scaling for XMetaL.
Procedure
- In Windows Explorer, go to the location of your XMetaL application executable, xmetal.exe. This file is located in the
XMetaL VERSION\ subfolder of c:\Program Files\, where VERSION is the version of XMetaL you are using.
- Right-click the xmetal.exe item in the list and select Properties from the context menu that opens.
The xmetal.exe Properties dialog opens.
- Select the Compatibility tab, and in this tab, select Change high DPI settings.
Another xmetal.exe Properties dialog opens.
- Select Override high DPI scaling behavior. From the Scaling performed by dropdown, select Application.
- Select OK to close the topmost dialog, then OK again to close the previous dialog and apply your change.
Results
XMetaL now no longer scales its icons and text labels on a high-DPI display.
