What to do if publishing fails with the log message "Couldn't parse title from meta"

If publishing to Dynamic Delivery fails and the logs show a message Couldn't parse title from meta, your publication may contain one or more topics whose <title> element is missing or empty.

About this task

In the event of a failure to publish to Dynamic Delivery, examine the publish logs. You may encounter the following message: 'Failed to deploy 'ZIPFILE' because of Error: Step execution failed with message: Couldn't parse title from meta.', where ZIPFILE is the name of a zip file that Content Delivery was attempting to deploy. If so, this indicates that your publication contains one or more topics without a <title> element. That element is either missing or empty.

Procedure

  1. First, find out when you last successfully published this publication to Dynamic Delivery. In Organize Space, select the top-level Events tab.
    The Events screen appears.
  2. On the left, select Dynamic Delivery.
The list of recent publish events to Dynamic Delivery appear.
  3. Find the last case of a successful publish of this publication. If the event is not listed under the default tab, Show Recent, select Show All.
  4. Open the publication in Publication Manager.
  5. Select the Baseline tab.
  6. Sort the objects in the baseline by the Date modified column, so that the most recently modified objects appear at the top.
  7. Check all topics that were modified since the last successful publish, and ensure that they all contain a nonempty <title> element.
  8. Retry publishing your publication.
