Adding topics to a publication's maps

To include topics in a publication, you need to modify the publication's rootmap or maps to add references to the topics. You can easily add topics to maps from Publication Manager without needing to edit maps in your authoring tool.

Procedure

  1. In Publication Manager, open a publication.
  2. Check out the map that will contain the added topics.
  3. Do one of the following:

    Add a single topic
    1. In the publication tree, do one of the following:
      • To insert a topic under an object in the hierarchy, right-click on that object (topic or map) and select Add within > Topic ref.
      • To insert a topic before an object in the hierarchy, right-click on that object (topic or map) and select Insert beforeTopic ref.
    2. In the first window that appears, click Browse...
    3. In the next window, locate and select the map you want to add.
    4. Click Insert, and then OK.

    1. Select Tridion Docs > Browse Repository.
    2. Locate and select the topics you want to add.
    3. Drag the topics from the Browse Repository window into position in the map in the publication hierarchy.
    A reference to the topic is added to the map.
  4. Check in the map when you have finished adding topic references.
