Content tab in Publication Manager
The Content tab shows the structure of the publication. The tab shows information about a selected object, such as the version and status. You can also see a preview of the object's content and perform tasks on the object, such as check in and check out.
- A publication tree of the content, including all referenced maps and topics, and any resource used by the publication.
- A version selection pane that shows the version, status, and other information about any item that is selected in the publication tree.
- A preview pane that displays a rendering of any item selected in the publication.
The Publication tree
The publication tree represents the structure of the map (or bookmap). You can check out a publication's map and edit it directly in Publication Manager.

The version selection pane
When you click an item in the publication tree on the left, you can view the version history in the version selection pane in the top right pane. A version must be selected for each item in your publication.
The preview
When you click an item in the publication tree on the left, you can view it in the preview pane in the bottom right pane.
If the item is a topic or a map, you can toggle between an HTML preview and an XML preview (plain text).
- Green background: the text is included when you publish the publication.
- Red background: the text is excluded when you publish the publication.
Some types of items, including PDF documents and Word documents cannot be previewed it in the preview pane. Instead, to see the contents of such items, right-click the item to open its context menu and select Open or Open With to open it in an external application such as Adobe Reader.
You can change which conditions to include or to exclude under the Conditions tab.
Draft Space URL or Review Space URL
This copies the URL to open the object in Draft Space or Review Space, respectively, to your clipboard. If you open a (supported) browser, you can paste the URL into its address bar and go directly to the item.
