Creating an account and connecting to the repository

Before you can access a Content Manager repository using one of the Content Manager desktop clients, you need to set up an account.

Before you begin

This task requires the following:

  • at least one installed Content Manager desktop client
  • a username and password (your credentials are dependant on the type of authentication being used)
  • the URL of the Content Manager web services

A Tridion Docs administrator should provide you with the necessary information.

About this task

An account defines a connection to a specific Content Manager repository. Note that these accounts are not the same thing as your user profile. If needed, you can set up multiple accounts for different repositories, such as one for production work and one for development or testing.

Procedure

  1. In Publication Manager, Tools > Accounts.
    The Accounts window is displayed.
  2. Click Add
    An account setup wizard opens
  3. On the first window, enter an Account Name (of your choice) and the URL of the Content Manager Web Service.
The URL will be something similar to the following: https://example.com/ISHWS/

    Click Next to proceed.

  4. On the second window, you will see options for the authenticating your identity when you sign in to Tridion Docs.
If required, enter the following details:
    • Authentication method — This is the method used to verify your identity. If the field is read only and indicates Access Management, the method is already set by your organization. Otherwise, select the appropriate method, as instructed by your administrator.
    • Username and Password — These are the credentials defined for you to access Tridion Docs. If the Authentication method is Access Management, these fields will be blank and non-editable.
    Click Next to proceed.
On the third and final window, Content Manager validates the account and synchronizes files.
  5. Click Finish to close the window.

Results

Once the account is successfully validated, you can use your credentials to sign in to the repository.
