Deleting repository objects in Publication Manager

You can permanently remove unwanted objects or versions of an object from the repository.

Before you begin

You must have permission to delete objects from the repository.

About this task

This topic describes steps to complete the task in Publication Manager. You can also perform this task in Organize Space.

Procedure

  1. In Publication Manager, select Tools > Browse Repository...
    The repository view window is opened.
  2. Locate and select the object you want to delete.
  3. Do one of the following:

    Delete all versions of one or more objects
    1. Locate and select the objects you want to delete.
    2. Click the Delete button.
    All versions and translations of the objects are permanently deleted.
    Delete a specific version of an object
    1. Locate and select the object you want to delete.
    2. Click the Versions... button at the bottom of the right pane.

      A new window is opened with a list of the versions.

    3. Select the version to delete and click the

      Delete button.

    Only the selected version and its associated translations are permanently deleted. The object remains in the repository minus the version that was deleted.

Results

When deleting multiple objects at the same time, it's possible that some objects cannot be deleted. The following are the most common reasons:
  • You don't have the necessary rights to delete the object.
  • The object you are trying to delete is referenced by another object, for example, a topic that is referenced in a map object or a map that is used in a publication.
  • The object is open for editing in the authoring tool.
