How can I locate an object in a publication?

You can determine if an object is in your publication and find its location in Publication Manager.

About this task

Question: I know I added a topic in my publication but I can't locate it now. How can I locate the object in the publication hierarchy?

Procedure

  1. Open the publication in Publication Manager.
  2. Click on the Baseline tab.
  3. Click on the column head, Title.
This organizes the objects in alphabetical order.
  4. Start typing the name of the object.
The focus is placed on the first object found with the beginning of your input string. If it is not the topic you want, scroll down the list. The list is in alphabetical order if you clicked the Title column head.
  5. After locating the title of the object, note the Used column.
Yes indicates that the object is in the publication. No indicates that it is not used in the current publication although it may have been included at one time (it was removed).

If you cannot find the object in the baseline, it is not in your publication.

  6. Double-click on the topic to located it in the publication hierarchy.
The focus is changed to the location of the object under the Content tab.

If the object is not in the publication, the value in the Used column is No and when double-clicked, the message cannot locate the object <object name> is displayed.
