Organizing objects in folders

All objects in the repository is stored in folders. You can define and configure the folder structure that is appropriate for your organization and content.

Folders and object types

When creating a folder, you define the type of content that it can contain. Although folders can contain only objects of the same type, users can create organizational folders within the main object folder.

Considerations for folder organization

If you have clearly defined organization lines such as business units or market segments, you can create a folder structure that provides global content then separate the organization-specific content into different folder hierarchies.

Consider the following when determining folder organization:

  • Information that is shared and at what level
  • The redundancy or similarity between products
  • The information that is specific to a group or product
  • How often does the organization structure changes

Organize content into a folder structure that is easy for authors to navigate and find content for reuse.
