Publication follow-up from the Baseline tab
The Baseline tab in Publication Manager is an invaluable tool for assessing the completion level of a large publication.
Overview
The Baseline tab in Publication Manager lists all the objects that your publication contains, along with many properties for these objects. This list can be sorted following any of those properties, by clicking on the property label at the top of the column.
Double-click the object to select it in the publication tree, in the Content tab.
There are three properties that can help you a great deal in managing publication content and decide how close it is from being ready for your audience.
Newer version
The Newer version property, with possible values Yes or No, tells you if the version currently selected for an object in this publication is the last one (No) or if a more recent version or branch exists but is not selected for this publication (Yes).
Your list of Yes objects tells you how much content may be outdated in this publication, or the amount of update activity it has undergone since the last time all objects were released.
Status
The Status property gives you the current status of the objects. This typically helps you evaluate the proportion of objects in this publication that have a Draft type of status, compared to the amount of objects that are released.
Sorting the objects following status is especially useful when you need to review all the content that has changed since the last time all objects were released. It can also be used when you need to release all the objects, before publishing the publication for public view for example.
Last modified by
Last modified by specifies the name of the user who has last modified the object. In conjunction with Date modified (the time when this object was last modified), it lets you see who were involved in the last content updates for this publication.
This information is useful when the content is supposed to be updated by users and then reviewed and amended by other users. If the reviewers make any change to the content, their name appear and you can see that the object has been reviewed and is thus ready for release.
