When publishing to a Dynamic Delivery output format, there are some additional steps needed to ensure the content is successfully deployed to the online presentation environment.
Before you begin
Before you can publish to
Dynamic Delivery, the following must be true:
- The Dynamic Delivery publishing environment is set up and ready for use in your Tridion Docs environment.
- A Tridion Docs administrator has defined the values for Product family name and Product release name. Dynamic Delivery environments use each publication's Product family name and Product release name properties to determine where the output should be displayed.
Procedure
- In Publication Manager, open a publication.
- Open the publication's Properties window and do the following:
- On the General tab, select the appropriate Product family name from the list.
The Product Family Name represents a group of related products, and the first level of grouping on a Dynamic Delivery home page.
Note: If a publication is published to a Dynamic Delivery output without a product family, it will be grouped under the "Unknown product" family.
- On the Version tab, select the appropriate Product release name from the list.
The Product Release Name is a specific version of a product family, and a secondary level of grouping under the product family.
Note: If a publication is published to a Dynamic Delivery output without a product release, it will be grouped under the "Unknown product release version".
- Click OK to save the publication properties.
- On the Output tab, select the Dynamic Delivery output format line and click Publish.
The publish process starts. While the content is still being deployed by Dynamic Delivery, the publication output status is Deploying Draft or Deploying Release Candidate.
After all content has been deployed, the publication output becomes Draft, Release Candidate or Failed.
- When publishing has completed successfully, verify that the output is available on the Dynamic Delivery web page.
Note that for large publications, the publication and deployment process can take some time. If the publication is still not visible after some time, check that the Remote Status property of the Dynamic Delivery output format is set to Online.
Note: After changing the Remote Status property, you do not need to republish the publication. It may take a little time to see the effect on the Dynamic Delivery web page, but not as long as for publishing.
