A publication (or more accurately, a publication version) may typically be pushed into translation at certain milestones in your process. You can push publications for translation at any time, provided that all of its objects are released in the source language, and that the baseline object contains version information.
About this task
Use push translation when:
- Requested languages are defined for the publication version.
- Translation Management is enabled on the publication version.
Note:
- Only publication versions can be pushed into translation. Individual objects within a publication version cannot be.
- It is not possible to generate language objects for draft objects.
Procedure
- In Organize Space, go to .
- Locate the publication you want to push into translation.
- In the list of publications, double-click the publication to show the detail view.
The detail view shows all publication versions, and within each version, the available output formats.
- Select the specific version of the publication that you want to push to translation.
- Select Generate target languages.
The Generate target languages dialog opens.
- By default, all target languages of this publication are selected through the checkbox LANGUAGES. To limit which target languages get generated, deselect this option and make a subselection of target languages you want to generate.
- Under Translator, select the user who will take manage and coordinate this translation project for you.
- Under Comments, leave any comments you want to communicate to this user.
- Select Generate.
Content Manager generates the translations in the background.
