Releasing the publication output from Publication Manager

When your publication version has an output format with a Release Candidate status, you can release that publication output for distribution to your customer base.

Before you begin

Before you can release a publication output, the output must first have a Release Candidate status. For your output to get a Release Candidate status, you must first release all objects (topics, maps, images, resources) in your publication, and then publish (or republish) the publication version to that publication output.

Before releasing the publication output, take note that this task has the following consequences:
  • Once the publication output is released, you can no longer modify or delete the language objects contained within that version of the publication. For example, if you release the output format "PDF" in the language "ja-jp", then you can no longer delete the Japanese language objects for this publication version, nor modify them (unless you create new versions of them).
  • Once the publication output is released, the baseline of your publication version is frozen.

Procedure

  1. In Publication Manager, open a publication.
  2. Select an output format with a status of Release Candidate.
  3. Select Release.

What to do next

The publication output is released and the baseline of the publication is frozen.
