Releasing translated objects

If you do not want draft copies of the publication, release the translated objects before publishing using Organize Space.

Before you begin

To perform this task, you must have administrator-level credentials or translation management credentials.

About this task

Note that the Enable Translation Management property results in different behavior for topics and images:
Images
If Enable Translation Management is not selected for images (thus indicating that the images require no translation), it is assumed that the image is content-free or language-neutral, and therefore the source language is sufficient for the output. Because of this assumption, the image can be given a release candidate status even if there is no target language version of the image.
Topics
The rule described for images is never applicable for topics, because it is assumed that they are never content-free. So for a topic, the translation always has to be present and released before you can have a release candidate and release the output. For topics, the Enable Translation Management property merely defines whether or not Content Manager should generate the target language object for translation.

Procedure

  1. In Organize Space, go to Content > Structured Content.
  2. In the folder tree, navigate to the folder containing the publication with the translated objects.
  3. In the list on the right, double-click the publication.
An object details view of the publication appears.
  4. Select the version of the publication whose translated objects you want to release.
  5. Select Release translations in the button toolbar.
    A Release Translations dialog opens.
  6. By default, all target languages are selected. Only if you have a specific reason not to release the translated objects for a specific language, clear that language.
  7. Select Release.
The dialog closes and the translated objects are released.
