Adding Experiments inline

In Experience Manager, you can add Experiments to Page Regions. You can only add one Experiment per Page Region per time period (start date and end date).

About this task

When you add an Experiment to a Page Region which already contains Promotions, the Experiment takes precedence over the Promotion for as long as the Experiment is running: the Promotion will be disabled during this period and Promotion content will not be displayed.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Editing Sites then choose a staging environment.
  2. Go to the webpage where you want to an Experiment and click the Properties border button at top right corner.
  3. Click Targeted Regions to view the regions available on the webpage.
  4. Select the region where you want to add the Experiment and click the more button .
  5. If a region does not have a running Experiment, you can click Add New > Experiment to define a new Experiment.
  6. When you add an Experiment to a Page Region, the website Publication and Page Region is preselected for you based on the context of where you are creating it in your website. You can specify the following:
    • the properties such as Name
    • the Content Variants you want to use
    • the Triggers for when you want to display the Experiment
  7. Optional: Select the When: Triggers section, then choose a trigger from the drop-down menu:
  8. Select the What: Content Items section to choose the Content Variants:
    1. Browse to a Folder.
    2. Select two or more Components.
    3. Click Choose (the number of selected items is displayed in brackets)
    4. Select a Component Template from the drop-down menu to apply the same Component Template to all the selected Components, or click Select per item and choose a Component Template for each Component separately.
    5. Click Add Items to add Components to the Experiment.
  9. Click Save when you have finished editing.

The Experiment is saved and the window closes.
