Aggregating Content Manager items in a Translation Job
Aggregation adds all the Content Manager items included in a Translation Job into a single item on the translation management system instead of in separate files for each item.
About this task
- Aggregating translatable fields
- You can send Component Text fields (excluding list fields), Component External link fields, Component Rich Format Area fields, and Metadata Text fields, External Link fields and Rich Format Area fields, for translation.
- Aggregating translatable properties
- When you include Content Manager items in a Translation Job, you can include the various item properties for translation, including the name property. By default, these properties are aggregated into a single item on the translation management system. If you do not want to aggregate these properties, assign a Metadata Schema to the Content Manager items and deselect the Schema Aggregate Translation Items check box.
- Controlling Aggregation
-
You can specify the number of Content Manager items that can be combined into a single file and sent to the translation management system. If the value is exceeded, multiple files containing aggregated items are added to the Translation Job on the translation management system. The setting affects server memory usage as well as how manageable the file is for the translator. To configure this setting, configure the
<MaximumTridionItemsPerAggregatedTmsFile>element in the TranslationManager.xml file on the server. - Aggregated files
- To provide context for a translation, a translation file containing aggregated content includes WebDAV URLs for each separate item, so that translators can trace text to its source.
