You can publish and republish various content and organizational items to one or more publishing targets. You can publish immediately or schedule publishing for a later time.
Procedure
- Select one or more items in the Central items area and then select
(Publish)
- On the General tab of the Publish dialog, select at least one target type for the publishing task.
Tip: If you have Target Types for your staging site and for your live site, it makes sense to publish to one but not to both—once content is good enough to go live, it no longer needs to be published to staging.
- If you want to schedule the publishing task for a later time, select Publish later and click the calendar button to pick a date and time. The option selected by default is to Publish immediately.
Tip: You can potentially improve the performance of your system by scheduling non-essential publishing to occur at a later date (say, at night or during weekends).
- For certain item types, you may also see an option to select whether you want to include new content in the publishing job or only content that has been previously published. The default is to republish only content that has been previously published, and thus not publish new content. Select the other option if you want to include new content as well.
- To see exactly which items will be published, select and expand the Show items to publish list. The list includes the items you selected as well as any items that depend on it.
- To configure advanced publishing options, select the Additional settings tab.

- Click Publish to start the publishing process.
