Using Bundles to group content
A Bundle is a virtual container for grouping content items that reside in different locations in Content Manager.
You can add any type of content item in a Publication to a Bundle, including other Bundles. The following screen capture illustrates a sample Bundle with a variety of different item types added to it:
Here are some points to remember about Bundles:
- Bundles can contain any number of items and an item can be in any number of Bundles.
- You cannot search inside a Bundle's contents. You can however, search for and locate the Bundle itself.
- Bundles can be localized in a child Publication, but only their title and metadata can then be changed. You cannot add items to the localized Bundle.
- You can put items shared from a parent Publication in a Bundle.
You can use Bundles for various purposes, such as to apply the same workflow process to the group of items or to export or import the items as a set. If your organization has implemented workflow for Bundles, it is also important to understand how Bundles are handled with regard to workflow. For more information, see the related topic on Bundles and workflow.
