Best practices for authors and editors for accessibility

This section explains how you can use Tridion Sites to produce content that is accessible to all your readers. The product helps you to produce such content, but truly accessible content can only be made if you apply the best practices in this section to your writing.

Web accessibility refers to the practice of creating websites that anyone can use, irrespective of their disability, the quality of their internet connection, or simply being in an unfavorable environment. The specific details of web accessibility are defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, or WCAG, as produced by the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, and can be found here: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

The software you use can help make your content accessible. For example, the software may add subtitles to a video, which helps both deaf and hard-of-hearing users, as well as users without any disability who are in a loud environment and can't hear their phone.

But producing accessible content also depends on you, the content author or editor. This section explains which best practices you can apply to maximize the accessibility of your content.

These best practices help both audiences:
Authors
Authors should follow the guidelines presented in this section while authoring content.
Editors
Editors should verify that the guidelines presented here have been followed when reviewing the content.
