Filtering and ordering content

Filtering allows you finer-grained control on what content items to show, based on Component attributes or the current visitors context.

Procedure

  1. Create a new Promotion, or open a Promotion for editing.
  2. Go to the What [...] tab.
  3. Depending on whether you are creating a new Promotion or editing an existing one, do one of the following:
    • If creating a new Promotion, complete the necessary details on all tabs. The filtering option is available only after the Promotion is otherwise complete.
    • If editing an existing Promotion, click Edit .
  4. From the Content options, select Filtering and Ordering.
  5. Enter or select the Maximum number of returned items to limit the content items returned for a Promotion.
  6. Click Add a content filter:
  7. In the Filter by drop-down menu, select the field you want to filter on.
  8. Choose an operator. The operators you can use depend on the type of field you select.

    • Dynamic value—select the trigger whose value will be used at runtime based on the visitor's current context
  10. Click Add a content filter to add another attribute.
  11. In the Order content section, select the field you want to order content by and specify the order of returned content items:
    • Ascending—numbers are in ascending order when they are arranged from the smallest to the largest number; strings are ascending order when they are arranged from the A to Z
    • Descending—numbers are in descending order when they are arranged from the largest to smallest; strings are descending order when they are arranged from the Z to A
  12. Click Save when you have finished editing.

The Promotion is saved and the window closes.
