Guidelines for Uploading Content

If you intend to use Legacy Content Delivery to prepare your publications manually (that is, not through a content management system), there are some best practices you should follow when uploading your content.

  • If you change the unique ID attribute in a topic that is already in the Legacy Content Delivery database, after you have uploaded the new topic, run the Validate tool and click Delete Unused Resources to remove the copy of the topic with the old ID.
  • You cannot upload files with a hash symbol (#) in the file name.
  • To upload more than 500 files at one time, use the command-line tool to upload data.
  • If you upload image files with the same name that reside in different folders on the file system from which you upload, only the last image file uploaded will reside in the Legacy Content Delivery database and be visible to readers. It is strongly recommended that all file names be unique, even across multiple directories.
