Preparing a Language Version

The process of language preparation builds the index and table of contents, resolves references (graphics, conrefs, and so on), and makes the language version live. You can also choose to show or hide draft comments.

Before you begin

Before you prepare a language version, you must select its top-level TOC resource file (for example, a map). This indicates to Legacy Content Delivery which file defines the structure of your publication. For DITA, this is the root map. You only need to do this once; subsequent uploads do not require that you perform this step, unless you change your root map.

About this task

When you prepare a language version, the content is locked so that users may neither upload nor delete resources and is unlocked once the preparation is complete. Also, preparing a language version clears the cache.

If you prepare content that contains conrefs, the prepare process inserts the conref data and replaces the original. This original data will be stored within <lc:original> tags.

Using draft comments (with the <draft-comment> DITA tag) lets authors communicate questions to reviewers or highlight specific content to review. Hiding or showing the draft comments on a publication lets you control when they are visible to your readers. As you hover over an icon its label appears.

Procedure

  1. If you are on a Legacy Content Delivery page, select Home in the breadcrumb trail.
