Topic pages in Legacy Content Delivery

Legacy Content Delivery provides controls for navigating, viewing, adding comments to, and printing topics.

The same Header, breadcrumb trail, Search and Advanced Search controls are static and common to all topic pages.

The Topic page consists of a header and three columns (left, middle, right) in the default layout. Each is described in the sections that follow.

Header

The header is comprised of three rows that span the top of the Topic page. Located in the top row of the header at the right is User Preferences, which lets you choose one of the available languages for the user interface (such as English, German, or Japanese). You can also upload your profile photo, which is used to complement your credentials, contributions, and comments.

If you are using SSO, you can configure ADFS to display a more friendly user name in User Preferences. If you are using ISHSTS, this capability is pre-configured. Check the Legacy Content Delivery installation guide for more information.

Located in the middle row of the header at the left is the breadcrumb trail.

At the far left of the breadcrumb trail is the Home (house) icon. When selected from a Legacy Content Delivery Administration Tool, this is the only way to navigate back to the Legacy Content Delivery landing page.

Located in the bottom row of the header at the right are Search and Advanced Search.
  • Search provides a Google-style search type-in field. After you enter a basic search, search results are returned in groups of 10 per page. At the bottom right of each search results page, you can use the Can't find what you are looking for? Advanced Search link to refine your query.
  • When you use the Advanced Search button (located to the right of the Search type-in field), a window appears where you can specify filtering criteria to fine-tune your search query.

Left Column

In the Content pane located at the left, the Table of Contents/Index provides an expandable-collapsible TOC or Index. Entries are hot linked to the appropriate topic, and the TOC-Index structure can be rolled up by collapsing the disclosure triangle to give you more room for viewing the topic.

The Options (gear) button lets you change between the Table of Contents or the Index, and lets you subscribe the publication to an RSS feed so you can be alerted when a comment is made.

Middle Column

The middle column displays the body of the topic, where you can leave an inline comment.

The Social Media (interconnected nodes) button lets you share the topic on a social media site. This button will not appear unless Social Media is configured. It is off by default.

The Options button lets you access all topic related options, including the following:

  • Print PDF—generates a PDF copy of the topic for offline use.
  • Print HTML—generates an HTML copy of the topic in a new window.
  • Subscribe—subscribes to an RSS feed so you can be alerted when a comment has been made.
  • View Source XML—generates an XML copy of the topic in a new window so you can view the underlying markup for troubleshooting syntax issues.

Right Column

The right column contains the Comment Stream, which lets you view or reply to a comment for the topic you are viewing. Entries include who made the comment, the commentator's photo, and when the comment was made. You can use the Options (gear) button set status on a comment. The Comment Stream can be rolled up into the header to give you more room for viewing the topic.
