Displaying Object Names

This task explains how to configure Contenta Explorer or Contenta Web clients to display either object names or alternate names in the tree view. Alternate names are based on code descriptions or property fields.

About this task

You can specify whether to display object names or alternate names in the tree view. You can toggle between them to suit your personal preference. Object names, as listed in the property sheet's Name field, are displayed by default.

When you hover over an object, a tooltip appears indicating the object's label. If you are viewing object names in the tree view, the alternate name displays as a tooltip; conversely, if you are viewing alternate names, the object name appears.

The alternate name also appears when hovering over the Name column in the list view. For example, depending on the object's type, S1000D databases provide the following alternate display names as defaults:
  • DMs — Technical Name and Information Name (hyphen-delimited)
  • PMs — Publication Module Title
  • SCPMs — SCORM Content Package Module Title
The following container objects use a fixed alternate name which is the description associated with the codes that make up the object's name. See Modifying MNS Codes for instructions on assigning descriptions to objects.
  • System
  • Subsystem
  • Subsubsystem
  • PNumber
