Connecting to Contenta from within Arbortext Editor

Before you can access the Contenta S1000D Arbortext Editor Plug-In menu items, you must have a connection to Contenta from within Arbortext Editor. In most cases, this connection is established when Arbortext is first launched.

About this task

This task describes how to see if you are already connected to Contenta, and how to try to connect if you are not connected.

To see if you have a connection to Contenta, click the Contenta dropdown menu in Arbortext.

If Contenta S1000D menu items such as Insert Reference..., Validate..., and several others are available, you are connected to Contenta.

If the first menu item is named Connect to Contenta... and the other menu items are grayed out, you are not connected to Contenta.

Follow this procedure to try to establish a connection to Contenta.

Procedure

  1. In Arbortext Editor, click Contenta > Connect to Contenta....
A popup dialog displays a Previously unable to connect to Contenta warning, and also displays your connection information.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. In Arbortext Editor, click the Contenta dropdown menu again.
If the connection attempt was successful, the Connect to Contenta... menu item will be gone, and the other Contenta menu items will be available. If only the Connect to Contenta... menu item is available, the connection attempt failed.
