Step 5: Start up the ETS translation servers

When you start up the SDL ETS translation servers you enable the resources which are used during the actual translation process.

About this task

Once the installation of the ETS application and the ETS language pairs are done, you need to start up the ETS translation services. The translation features of ETS require at least one running Job Engine and one running Translation Engine. Make sure that the host machine running the ETS application with any Translation Engine(s) has a valid license for the ETS language pairs it is serving.

Procedure

  1. Launch the Web GUI.
  2. Log in using an ETS administrator account.
  3. Navigate to Manage > Hosts.
  4. In the upper right-hand corner, select Edit.
  5. In the upper right-hand corner, select Add.
  6. Enter the host machine name and the port if the default (4637) is not already used.
  7. Select Add.
If a valid hostname and port number are entered, then a new row with the hostname will be added to the list of Hosts with the hostname and port specified. A list of all the installed language pairs on that host will be automatically listed under the Language Pairs column. A grayed and crossed-out language pair indicates that the language pair is not licensed on that host.
  8. Under the Job Engines column, identify the Host you are adding a Job Engine to.
  9. Select Add under the Job Engines column (and Host row) you identified previously.
  10. Under the Translation Engines column. identify the Host you are adding a Translation Engine to. Select Add under the Translation Engines column (and Host row) you identified previously.
  11. Select source and target languages under Language Pair.
  12. Select Add.
  13. Repeat steps 11-14 for each additional language pair you wish to enable translation for.
  14. Select Done Editing.
  15. Select the play icons, under the Job Engines and Translation Engines columns, to start the servers.
The server status icon adjacent to each server changes from stopped to running upon successful start-up of each server.

Results

Upon the successful start of at least one Job Engine and one Translation Engine, the ETS translation features are enabled.
