Adding comments

By adding comments, you can make suggestions to translators and reviewers and help improve the overall quality of the translation. You can add comments only to target segments.

Procedure

  1. Open the appropriate file in SDL Online Editor.
  2. Do one of the following:
    ScopeAction
    Add a comment to the current selection, to the current segment, or to the entire file.Select a fragment of text in the target segment.
    Add a comment to the current segment or to the entire file.Click anywhere inside a target segment that has text in it.
    Add a comment to the entire file.Click anywhere inside an empty target segment.
  3. On the right side of the screen, select Show Comments The Show Comments button in SDL Online Editor..
    The Comments pane is displayed.
  4. In the Comments pane, in the text box, enter your comment.
  5. In the Scope list, select whether you want to add the comment to the current selection, to the current segment, or to the entire file.
  6. In the Severity Level list, select the severity level (or importance) of your comment.
  7. Select Add.

Results

If you added a comment to a selection or to a segment, that selection or segment is highlighted. Also, when the file you are working on contains comments, a small dot is displayed next to the Show Comments button: The Show Comments button with a small dot next to it.
