Project translation memories
A project translation memory contains translations that have been taken from the main translation memories that you selected for a project. Only translations where there is a degree of match that at least meets the minimum match requirement you have specified will be retrieved into the project translation memory.
About creating a project translation memory
You can create and populate the project translation memory when you run the Populate project translation memories batch task. This is run as part of the Prepare task sequence during project creation.
The name of the project translation memory is the project name plus the language code.
A server-based project TM is created when you use a server-based TM in your project and a file-based project TM is created when you use a file-based TM in your project. If needed, you can change this in the Project Translation Memory settings when you run the batch task to create a project TM.
When file-based project TMs are created, they are placed in the TM folder in the same location as the project folder.
Why create a project translation memory?
- The project translation memory is updated throughout the project life cycle and can be used by translators. This prevents translations that have not yet been approved being updated to the main translation memory but allows them to still be shared between translators.
- You can choose to include a project translation memory in project packages or create a new project translation memory specific to that package. You may want to do this if you have a large main translation memory and you want to decrease the package size and increase the speed at which results are displayed for the translators.
