Bulk classification

Taxonomies often change and evolve with time as they are enriched, reduced, or broadened. To facilitate heavy restructuring operations required as a result of your taxonomy changing, you can perform Classify/Unclassify/Reclassify actions to better categorize your content.

Bulk classification of content allows you to do the following:

  • Classifying content—allows you to add a Keyword association to one or more Content Manager items
  • Unclassifying content—allows you to remove a Keyword association from one or more Content Manager items
  • Reclassifying content—allows you to replace a Keyword association in one or more Content Manager items

You can perform Classify/Unclassify/Reclassify actions provided that the action does not violate Schema rules. Successful classification results in a new version of an item, but if the item is associated with a Workflow Process the item does not, by default, enter Workflow. A new configuration setting in the SDL Tridion MMC Snap-in (Start Workflow action on classification process) allows you to enable Workflow after classification.

You can execute Classify/Unclassify/Reclassify content using the API, and additional Event System (pre and post) to support the process of re-publishing affected content.
